The Power of The Dollar.

A few weeks ago I told everyone how Toronto is filled with people blocking reality with shades that show Queer as Folk reruns. Once again the city has exemplified just that. Toronto, I mean Somolian rapper K'naan is the latest to get glorified by a bunch of people who have no fucking idea what they're doing. Except it extends as far as FIFA who recently bought rights to his song " Wavin' Flag" I could understand Fifa's point of view who despite being filled with racism and corruption try to portray a "fair play" message. (Where were they when the Togo team was getting shot up) But why the fuck does cities like Toronto endorse these people. You know the ones talking about change but they've had a career earning massive amounts money simply talking about the world's issues. See the world is jumping on K'naan's dick because he speaks of children being used as weapons and poverty and hunger and all of that other shit we hear everyday.

Whether K'naan lives for the rest of his life, or dies tomorrow, he'll still be the same pathetic rapper and Africa will be in the same fucked up state it has always been in. It's pathetic the amount of fame celebrities  who raise awareness to social issues get when in the end nothing is ever going to change. The amount of publicity Bono gets for 'saving the world' one would swear he ripped out his own kidney and gave it to a child in need. No, the world is still fucked up just as it was before Bono starting "raising awareness" to all these issues and the latest U2 tour grossed $130 million while Bono's net worth continuously rises. Now he's scrambling with Jay-Z and Madonna to sing songs for Haiti. What the fuck is that going to do for them? Writing a song for a telethon coild not change the world and will not have a direct impact on the state of affairs around the globe. Yet the public continues sucking their dick, raising their profile, and making them more money while the world continues doing what it does best, circularity. If you were going to donate to Haiti or any other cause did you really need a song to tell you that?

Tomorrow there will be another celebritiy adopting a child from Cambodia because their agent told them it's a wise decision and the world will go out and buy their album or watch their latest flick, why? Because of the mere fact they "changed the world". Bono, K'naan, Jay-z, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston dead or alive can all suck on a cock. They've profitied by raising awareness to issues that have/will never be solved. If they really wanted to make a difference they would be lifting bodies from the debris or urging the government to make a change. Instead they'll donate a few in which they can write-off and like K'Naan build an entire career of talking about a change that will never take place. Keep waving the freedom flag K'Naan.

Interesting Read I discovered After I wrote this piece:

Recapping Picks: Profitable Day. The Knicks torched the hell out of the T-Wolves. UNC stopped the bleeding and Clemson unfortunately dropped the ball. 2-1 on the night and 44-39-1 on the season. However due to some massive soccer winnings I cashed in 8 bills tonight.

Today's Picks: I'm going with everything I like on the board. Throwing a bill each. Get rich or go broke trying..

LA Lakers vs Indiana Pacers.........................Lakers -5.5
Miami Heat vs Toronto Raptors......................Heat +3.5
UConn vs Providence.....................................UConn -5
Utah Jazz vs Portland Trailblazers.......................Jazz -2
Cleveland Cavs vs Minnesota T-Wolves.........Under 200

Nice Entry and the link to Bono's tax evasion was classic. Also, I agree with the "message of awareness" group. These guys are profiting under the backs of poor people. Sure they say a profit goes to some fund but we all know things fall through the cracks. I say they should all get it over with and live the life similar to Mother Teresa even for a month. Now that will open up my eyes
