I Sympathize, Don't Support

Why is it that almost everyone, everywhere dickrides the military? You see the corny bumper stickers: Support Our Troops. Now why the fuck would I do that? These people are manufactured to kill. I use the word manufacture because somewhere along the lines they've lost many human elements and have became machine-like. I don't want to turn this into some political bullshit but why the hell does the military get so much love for "risking" their lives for us? In World War 1 and World War 2 they risked their lives for the Europeans who couldn't get their shit together. Last I checked, I wasn't European. (You won't catch me in a Speedo) Now they're in Afghanistan trying to clean shit up and the day they leave everything will return to being fucked up, very productive Canada. I applaud the humanitarian work they do etc. etc. but I could never understand why people love the military so much. It's no different than a fucking 9-5. Sure my heart goes out to the families everytime I see one of them has been killed especially the younger ones but what the fuck are they doing in the Middle-East anyway? For the majority of these soldiers that do enrol in the military, they're not exacly Rhodes Scholars. Many were either stoners in high-school or went to a post secondary institution and got a degree in the History of Art. Suprise Suprise, they can't pay bills and use the military as a last resort. Yes I'm generalizing and some do join because they love their country but they ain't risking their lives for us. They're collecting a pay cheque just like everyone else. The only difference is there is a slight chance they might die. I see it no different than a miner or a Blue Angels pilot that boasts a 10% fatality rate. The military is not much more than a job with a slight risk you might return in a body-bag for the greater good of people who are fucked up and don't want/need saving in the first place.
